The dark action series Murciélago is officially heading to the small screen, with HIDIVE confirming a January 2027 television debut during a presentation at Anime NYC. The announcement was accompanied by a super teaser video, offering a glimpse at the series' high-octane premise involving a state-sanctioned executioner and her high-speed partner.

Production duties are split between studios Satelight and Staple Entertainment. Matsuo Asami, known for directing episodes of The Villainess Is Adored by the Prince of the Neighbor Kingdom, is set to direct, while Takashi Naoya (Am I Actually the Strongest?) serves as chief director and oversees series composition. Character designs are being handled by Kiyoshi Tateishi, with a musical score composed by Masanori Akita and Yūichi Tsuchiya.

Adapted from Kana Yoshimura’s ongoing manga, which has been serialized in Young Gangan since 2013 and boasts over 2.3 million copies in circulation, the story follows the lethal Kuroko Koumori and her partner Hinako Tozakura as they hunt down serial killers. HIDIVE has secured exclusive streaming rights for the series in the U.S., Canada, U.K., Australia, and New Zealand.

This adaptation arrives as the source material continues to maintain a strong footprint, with 29 compiled volumes released in Japan and Yen Press actively localizing the series for English-speaking readers. The franchise also previously expanded with the spin-off manga Murciélago Byproduct Araña, which ran from 2018 to 2020.
