The I Became a Legend After My 10 Year-Long Last Stand anime will officially debut on July 6, with the production staff unveiling a new key visual and five additional cast members. The series, originally slated for an April premiere, was delayed to ensure a higher quality final product.
New additions to the cast include Nobuhiko Okamoto, Kōsuke Toriumi, Takehito Koyasu, Shinya Takahashi, and Satoshi Hino, who will voice vampire characters central to the plot. The series stars Gakuto Kajiwara as Luck, the protagonist who single-handedly holds off a demonic horde for ten years, emerging as a legend. The anime is being directed by Hiroyuki Kanbe at Studio Gekkou, with Mitsutaka Hirota handling series scripts and Majiro on character designs.
The story follows Luck, a sorcerer who makes a heroic sacrifice to allow his comrades to escape a demon onslaught. Through sheer determination and skill, he withstands the attack for a decade, becoming a legend. However, he finds himself in a world where he is simultaneously a celebrated hero and a relative newcomer, facing the challenge of how to navigate his new reality. The manga adaptation, which Square Enix and Comikey are releasing in English, boasts over 4.45 million copies in circulation across the novel and manga series.
Additional staff include Majiro as chief animation director, Akira Nagasaka as color key artist, and Bihou, Inc. as art director. The ending theme, titled "Ari Kitari na Nichijō to Kōun na Hibi e," will be performed by the rock-idol group MEISHOHIKOKAI. Music composition is handled by Tomotaka Ōsumi.
