The Medalist franchise is expanding from the small screen to theaters, with a new film adaptation officially scheduled to debut in Japan on February 19, 2027. Studio ENGI is spearheading the project, retaining a creative team focused on maintaining the series' reputation for detailed skating sequences. Yasutaka Yamamoto, who directed Noblesse, will lead the production, while Jukki Hanada handles the script. To ensure the authenticity of the on-ice movement, the studio has brought back figure skater Akiko Suzuki for choreography, working alongside Koji, who serves as both the figure skating and 3DCG director.
This film follows the conclusion of the second television season, which aired in Winter 2026. While the previous television installments were distributed globally via Disney+ and Hulu, specific details regarding international theatrical or streaming availability for this feature have not yet been announced. The source material, a sports drama by Tsurumaikada, has been a consistent presence in Afternoon magazine since 2020, with 15 volumes currently in print.
