The upcoming feature film Sekiro: No Defeat, based on the acclaimed action title Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, has pulled back the curtain with a visceral new battle clip. Released through the KADOKAWAanime YouTube channel, the footage highlights the film’s commitment to capturing the high-speed, lethal swordplay that defined the source material.

Fans of the original FromSoftware game will be pleased to see the return of the core Japanese voice cast, including Daisuke Namikawa as the titular protagonist, Sekiro, and Kenjirō Tsuda as his rival, Genichiro Ashina. The film is helmed by director Kenichi Kutsuna at studio Qzil.la, with character designs provided by Takahiro Kishida, known for his work on Durarara!!. The production notably features a theme song from the late Ryuichi Sakamoto and a production team that publicly committed to a non-AI workflow.

Following its out-of-competition screening at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, the film is set for a limited three-week theatrical engagement in Japan starting September 4. For global viewers, Crunchyroll has secured exclusive streaming rights for a 2026 release, excluding specific territories including China, Korea, Russia, and Belarus.

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice remains a landmark title in the action-adventure genre, having sold over 2 million copies in its first ten days upon its 2019 launch. This anime adaptation aims to translate the game's brutal Sengoku-era conflict and vertical traversal into a cinematic format, expanding the narrative of the 'one-armed wolf' for a new medium.
