Manga creator Akiko Higashimura, best known for Princess Jellyfish and Tokyo Tarareba Girls, is stepping into live-action directing for the first time with a new series titled Vacance no Hōsoku (The Vacation Rules). The streaming service ABEMA announced the project, which features original concept, direction, and scripts by Higashimura.

The romantic drama follows Midori Hoshino, who seeks an escape from her everyday life and finds herself drawn to the mysterious caretaker, Nishigami, at a vacation estate. Kanna Hashimoto, known for her roles in live-action adaptations like Kingdom and Gintama, stars as Midori. Chae Jong Hyeop, who appeared in Nevertheless and Castaway Diva, plays Nishigami.

Vacance no Hōsoku is set to premiere on ABEMA Special on July 27. The series will consist of 18 15-minute episodes, available for free viewing on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. This marks Higashimura's latest venture into live-action adaptations, following previous successes based on her manga, including the Princess Jellyfish anime and live-action film, and multiple other series.
