Ichijinsha has officially announced that Azusa Banjou's romantic comedy manga, Koisuru (Otome) no Tsukurikata (I Think I Turned My Childhood Friend Into a Girl), will receive a television anime adaptation. The announcement was accompanied by a commemorative illustration from the original creator.

Banjou's manga, which began as a webcomic on X (formerly Twitter) and Pixiv in late 2019 before its official serialization on Comic POOL in February 2020, has achieved significant popularity. The series has over 600,000 copies in circulation, including digital editions, with its 12th volume set to go on sale soon. Seven Seas Entertainment handles the English license, with the 11th volume scheduled for release in November.

The series has garnered critical attention, earning nominations for the Tsugi ni Kuru Manga Awards in 2020, 2021, and 2022. It also placed in the "Should be Anime" category in MyAnimeList's "You Should Read This Manga" event for both 2024 and 2025, highlighting strong fan demand for an animated version.

Koisuru (Otome) no Tsukurikata follows Kenshirou Midou, a boy secretly passionate about cosmetics, who asks his childhood friend Hiura Mihate to let him practice makeup techniques on him. The drastic transformation of Hiura into a charming girl sparks unexpected feelings in Kenshirou, while Hiura, who has long harbored feelings for Kenshirou, sees this as an opportunity to deepen their bond.
