The official YouTube channel for the short anime of Sakura Kurihara's Let Me Fix You (Kimi wo Tsumugu) yuri manga has shared a new promotional video. The anime's debut was originally planned for May but was delayed to mid-June due to production issues.
The manga, which blends macabre elements with tender storytelling, follows a seamstress named Tsumugi and a girl named Chise who is not fully alive. As Tsumugi mends Chise's body, a bond forms between them. The manga was first self-published by Kurihara in December 2021, with a digital release in Japan following in early 2022. English publisher BluPetal launched a successful Kickstarter campaign in March, raising over $28,000 to bring the manga to English-speaking audiences.
The anime's production faced significant challenges after allegations surfaced against Federico Antonio Russo (also known as FAR), co-founder of animation studio Buta Productions. The anime's staff announced in May that they would continue the project without Buta Productions or FAR, and that they were seeking a new studio to potentially expand the project beyond its initial scope, which was originally intended to be much larger.
Ani is directing the anime and handling character designs, with Kam' kamon as art director. The staff confirmed that while the current project's scope is secure, future installments are uncertain pending the acquisition of a new studio. The short anime was initially slated for a late May release, with a German publisher Dokico originally involved before the production changes.
