The upcoming anime Jaadugar: A Witch in Mongolia has added Mongolian sumo wrestlers Ichiro Tamawashi and Manpei Tamashoho to its cast. Tamawashi will portray the legendary founder of the Mongol Empire, Genghis Khan, while Tamashoho will voice a resilient Mongol soldier. Both wrestlers, who belong to the Kataonami stable, will also lend their voices to other characters in the series.

A video featuring the wrestlers discussing their voice acting debut has also been released. The anime, based on Tomato Soup's manga, is set to premiere on July 4 in Japan on TV Asahi's "IMAnimation W" programming block, airing its first two episodes as a one-hour special. The series will also see its world premiere with the first three episodes on June 13 at United Cinemas Aqua City Odaiba.

Directed by Abel Góngora with chief direction by Naoko Yamada, Jaadugar: A Witch in Mongolia is being animated by Science SARU. The series boasts a notable staff, including character designer Kenichi Yoshida and script supervisor Kanichi Katō. The original manga, which topped the Kono Manga ga Sugoi! rankings for female readers and was nominated for the Manga Taisho Awards, follows Fatima, a Persian woman skilled in medicine and science, as she navigates the complex politics of the 13th-century Mongol Empire.

Jaadugar: A Witch in Mongolia is also slated for international festival screenings, including a competitive slot at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival and the U.S. premiere at Anime Expo on July 3. The manga itself has garnered significant acclaim, winning the grand prize in the Comic division of the 55th Japan Cartoonists Association Awards.
