The upcoming television anime adaptation of Tsumuji Yoshimura’s Seibetsu "Mona Lisa" no Kimi e. (Just Like Mona Lisa) has entered production with a reveal of its primary creative team and lead voice actor. A newly released teaser promotional video provides a first look at the series, which explores themes of identity and romance.
Chika Anzai, known for her work in Grand Blue, will voice the protagonist, Hinase Arima. The production is helmed by director Kana Shundou, with character designs handled by Nobuhiro Sugiyama, who previously contributed to 3-gatsu no Lion. The studio behind the project is Shaft, with Yuuki Hayashi attached to compose the score.
Originally serialized in Gangan Online starting in 2018, the source material concluded its run with its tenth volume in 2022. The series, which has since been licensed in English by Comikey and Square Enix, offers a poignant look at the complexities of gender and self-discovery. With the core staff now in place, the project moves into its next phase of development.
