Honō no Tōkyūjo: Dodge Danko, the sequel anime to Honō no Tōkyūji Dodge Danpei, has unveiled its main promotional video, announcing a July 6 premiere. The trailer showcases new voice cast members and confirms the opening theme song.
The newly announced cast includes Sumire Uesaka as Hako Mikasa, Kanna Nakamura as Hayami Hiura, Yuka Iguchi as Jyuri Igarashi, Satomi Akesaka as Ruka Sakamoto, Fairouz Ai as Zoe, and Mariya Ise as Ran Midou. The anime will feature "Kaishin no Ichigeki" by girl group Momoiro Clover Z as its opening theme, while the previously revealed ending theme "Welcome to Azatosa World" by i☆Ris remains. The series focuses on Danko Ichigeki, daughter of the original series' protagonist, as she aims to build the ultimate dodgeball team in the Reiwa era.
Additional staff have also joined the production, including Ryō Kimura for Color Design, Masahiro Satō for Art Director/Art Design, and Yasunori Iwasaki and Ren Tsukagoshi for music. The anime is directed by Hiroshi Ikehata at CUE, with Kazuho Hyōdō handling series scripts and Narihito Sekikawa on character designs. Noriko Hidaka, who voiced Danpei in the original 1991 anime, returns to voice Danpei in flashback scenes and also serves as the narrator for the sequel.
Honō no Tōkyūjo: Dodge Danko will begin airing on July 6 at 11:00 p.m. JST on Tokyo MX and BS11, with MBS airing it on July 7. An advance screening of the first two episodes is scheduled for June 21 at Shinjuku Wald 9. The original Honō no Tōkyūji Dodge Danpei manga ran from 1989 to 1995, inspiring a 47-episode anime series.
