The romantic comedy manga I Think I Turned My Childhood Friend Into a Girl by Azusa Banjo is officially receiving a television anime adaptation. An official X (formerly Twitter) account launched today to announce the news, accompanied by a commemorative illustration from the manga creator.
Seven Seas Entertainment, which publishes the manga in English, describes the story as a familiar tale of a makeover gone unexpectedly deep. The plot follows Kenshirou Midou, a high school student secretly passionate about cosmetics, who gets permission to practice makeup on his childhood friend, Hiura Mihate. The transformation turns Hiura from a plain boy into a pretty girl, leading Hiura to embrace feminine attire and the school uniform. Kenshirou grapples with whether he's unlocked a new side of Hiura or simply revealed a latent aspect of his friend, questioning the burgeoning romantic feelings between them.
Banjo originally launched I Think I Turned My Childhood Friend Into a Girl on Ichijinsha's Comic Pool website in February 2020. The series' 12th compiled volume is slated for release in Japan on June 25, while Seven Seas released the 10th English volume on March 24.
