The upcoming second stage adaptation of Yasuhisa Hara's Kingdom manga, titled Kingdom II -Keishō- (Kingdom II -Inheritance-), has cast Chihiro Yamamoto in the pivotal role of Kyou Kai. The announcement was made Tuesday by the production staff.
Returning cast members include Hiroki Miura as Shin and Akira Takano as Ou Ki. The play's narrative will center on the Qin general Ou Ki and his fateful demise in battle. Kazuya Yamada is back to direct, with Shizuka Kasaura penning the script under the supervision of Bun-Ō Fujisawa, who wrote the first stage play. Kohta Yamamoto, known for his work on the Kingdom anime's third through sixth seasons and the first stage play, will return to compose the music.
Kingdom II -Keishō- is scheduled to run from August 9 to September 13 at the Tokyo Tatemono Brillia Hall in Tokyo. Additional performances will take place in Osaka in September and Fukuoka in October. The first Kingdom stage play was performed in 2023.
Yasuhisa Hara's historical manga, which began serialization in Shueisha's Weekly Young Jump in 2006, follows the slave boy Xin's ambition to become a great general for the state of Qin. Viz Media publishes the manga in English. The franchise has also spawned multiple anime seasons and four live-action films, with a fifth film set for release on July 17.
