The gripping sci-fi survival horror manga Leviathan by Shiro Kuroi is officially being adapted into a live-action feature film. Scheduled to hit theaters on February 11, 2027, the project is being distributed by TOHO, with directing duties shared by Michihito Fujii and Ryohei Shingu.

The film’s lead cast has been confirmed, with Shunsuke Michieda taking on the role of Kazuma Ichinose and Natsuki Deguchi starring as Futaba Nikaido. The production team also released a teaser trailer, which provides a first look at the atmospheric, high-stakes tension that defined the original print series.

Originally serialized in Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ from August 2022 to February 2023, Leviathan centers on a group of students trapped on an abandoned spaceship. The narrative unfolds through the recovered diary of Kazuma, detailing a harrowing struggle for survival as resources dwindle and the crew turns on one another to reach a single cryopreservation unit. The manga gained significant traction for its brutal, detailed art style and claustrophobic pacing, earning a dedicated following before concluding with its third volume.
