The latest television adaptation of the legendary Ghost in the Shell franchise has expanded its voice cast, bringing in two industry veterans for pivotal roles. Kikuko Inoue, known for her extensive voice acting career, will portray the enigmatic Puppet Master (Project 2501), while Shigeru Chiba, recognized for his distinct performances in titles like Dorohedoro, steps into the role of Nakamura.

This new iteration is currently in production under the leadership of director Moko-chan at studio Science SARU. The creative team includes series composer and screenwriter Toh EnJoe, who previously worked on Godzilla: S.P, and character designer Shuuhei Handa. The atmospheric soundscape of the show is being crafted by a trio of composers: Taisei Iwasaki, Ryo Konishi, and Yuki Kanesaka.

While this project represents a fresh vision for the series, the franchise remains a pillar of the cyberpunk genre. The original 2002 Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex—produced by Production I.G—remains highly regarded, holding an 8.42 rating on MyAnimeList and sitting within the top 250 series on the platform. With a history spanning multiple sequels, spin-offs like the Tachikomatic Days shorts, and various manga adaptations, this new production arrives with the weight of a massive legacy behind it.
