McDonald's Japan has unveiled a surprising new collaboration with CAPCOM's Mega Man franchise. The promotion centers around a parody music video for the viral 2007 song "Air Man ga Taosenai" (I Can't Beat Air Man) by Team Nekokan.

The newly released video, penned and composed by Japanese YouTuber Seramikaru, features Mega Man struggling with the summer heat. His quest for relief leads him to a McDonald's, where he discovers the refreshing power of their iced coffee. The collaboration was overseen by CAPCOM, ensuring an authentic touch for fans of the Blue Bomber.

"Air Man ga Taosenai" originally gained massive popularity in Japan, first appearing on Nico Nico Douga in July 2007 and later released on CD. The song's catchy tune and relatable lyrics about the difficulty of defeating the Air Man boss became a cultural phenomenon. Team Nekokan members nyanyannya and sham provided vocals and guitar for the McDonald's parody, with nyanyannya also contributing to the original track.

This isn't the first time McDonald's Japan has used anime and game properties for promotions, though this collaboration leans into internet culture and nostalgia. The campaign highlights McDonald's iced coffee as a solution to Mega Man's summer woes, blending gaming iconography with fast-food refreshment. A teaser for the collaboration had previously hinted at the "Air Man ga Taosenai" connection, building anticipation for the full reveal.
