The second season of From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman is expanding its roster, with NBCUniversal Japan confirming the addition of Kenshō Ono and Sumire Uesaka to the voice cast. The duo will step into the roles of Warren Flumvelk and Shueste Flumvelk, respectively. This announcement arrives alongside a fourth promotional video, which offers a new look at the continuing journey of Beryl Gardinant.
The series, which returned to airwaves on July 8 as part of the "IMAnimation W" programming block on TV Asahi, follows the humble sword instructor as he navigates his unexpected appointment to the Liberion Order. The production sees a full return of the core creative team from the 2025 debut, including director Akio Kazumi, series script supervisor Kunihiko Okada, and character designer Satsuki Hayasaka. Yasuharu Takanashi also returns to helm the musical score, with the opening theme "Kurenai no Ha" by Unicorn and the ending track "Mikansei" by BLUE ENCOUNT setting the tone for the new episodes.
Beyond the screen, the franchise continues to maintain a strong presence through its source material. Originally a web novel by Shigeru Sagazaki, the series has spawned a successful manga adaptation by Kazuki Satō, which is available in English through Yen Press. With two additional spin-off manga series expanding the lore, the franchise has become a notable entry in the fantasy genre, focusing on the dynamic between a modest mentor and his high-achieving former pupils. International viewers can follow the latest developments of Season 2 exclusively via Amazon Prime Video.
