Japanese game developer Drecom has established a new division, Drecom Creators Studio, dedicated to fostering independent game development. The studio's mission is to identify promising game titles and shepherd them from initial development through long-term growth, with a particular focus on empowering smaller creators and teams.
Drecom Creators Studio plans to offer comprehensive support, encompassing developmental expertise, financial backing, marketing strategies, and opportunities for mixed-media expansion. The company is actively soliciting applications from creators via its official website.
In addition to its support initiatives, the new studio will make an appearance at the upcoming BitSummit PUNCH event, scheduled to take place in Kyoto from May 22nd to 24th.
This announcement follows Drecom's recent clarification regarding the Wizardry intellectual property. The company confirmed that while Atari acquired the rights to the first five classic Wizardry games from the original rights holder, Drecom retains ownership of the Wizardry trademark and will continue to manage the brand's IP domestically and internationally. Drecom has stated no intention to sell these rights in the future. Source: Drecom's website via Gematsu
