Detective Conan: Fallen Angel of the Highway, the 29th film in the long-running franchise, has stormed the Japanese box office, securing the #1 spot with a record-breaking opening weekend. The film sold over 2.3 million tickets, grossing an impressive 3.5 billion yen (approximately $21.9 million USD).

The new installment focuses on Chihaya Hagiwara, a member of the Kanagawa Prefectural Police's motorcycle division, voiced by Miyuki Sawashiro. Directed by Takahiro Hasui and scripted by Takahiro Ōkura, the movie features music by Yūgo Kanno and the theme song "Last Danced Anata to" performed by Misia.

Meanwhile, Doraemon the Movie: New Nobita and the Castle of the Undersea Devil, a remake of the 1983 classic, slipped to the #2 position in its seventh weekend. Despite the drop, the film has accumulated over 3.11 million ticket sales and nearly 4 billion yen (around $24.78 million USD) cumulatively. Directed by Tetsuo Yajima with a screenplay by Isao Murayama, this 45th Doraemon film has held the top spot for six consecutive weekends since its February 27 release.

Other films charting include Shingo Yamashita's Cosmic Princess Kaguya!, which remains at #5 in its eighth weekend after an extended theatrical run, and the live-action adaptation of The Ogre's Bride, currently at #6. The anime film Assassination Classroom the Movie: Everybody's Time rose to #7 in its fourth weekend, offering a collection of previously unaired episodes.
