Detective Conan creator Gōshō Aoyama has revealed that he has already drafted the thumbnail layouts for the final chapter of his legendary mystery manga. Aoyama shared the update during an appearance on YTV's 24-Jikan Terebi Saishin Jōhō SP, where he discussed his creative process with guests Taiga Kyōmoto and CHANMINA. When asked if he plans his narrative by working backward from the end, Aoyama confirmed that the conclusion is already mapped out and described his draft as "entertaining."
First launching in Shogakukan's Weekly Shonen Sunday in 1994, the series has become a pillar of the industry. Its massive success has fueled a long-running anime adaptation that premiered in 1996, alongside 29 feature films and high-profile crossovers with franchises like Lupin III and Star Detective Precure!.
Beyond his manga work, Aoyama continues to contribute to various media projects, recently designing the charity t-shirt artwork for YTV’s annual 24-Hour Television telethon. While the existence of a final draft marks a major milestone for the decades-long series, no official end date for the serialization has been announced.
