The Society for the Promotion of Japanese Animation (SPJA) has confirmed that Anime Expo 2026 reached a new peak in its 35-year history, drawing 422,000 turnstile attendees over its four-day run. This figure, which aggregates daily entries, represents a steady climb from the 410,000 attendees recorded during the 2025 event. International representation remained robust, with visitors arriving from over 65 countries to participate in the festivities.
Beyond the crowd numbers, the event continues to be a major financial driver for the region. Organizers reported an estimated economic impact of $115 million for Los Angeles, an increase over the $110 million generated in the previous year. The convention utilized several major venues throughout the city, including the Los Angeles Convention Center, the Crypto.com Arena, and L.A. LIVE.
Following the success of this milestone anniversary, the SPJA has already locked in the dates for next year. Anime Expo 2027 is scheduled to return to the Los Angeles Convention Center from July 2 through July 5. Those planning to attend can expect badge sales to begin in early 2027.
