The live-action adaptation of the popular webtoon The Legend of Kitchen Soldier is slated for a May 11 premiere on the Korean streaming service TVING. The announcement came from the platform on Wednesday.

The series adapts the story of a conscripted soldier who discovers a passion for cooking within the army's mess hall. Trading his rifle for a chef's knife, the protagonist embarks on a unique, game-like journey to achieve legendary status as a chef, overcoming unusual culinary trials.

Ji-hoon Park has been tapped to play the lead role of Kang. Park has previously appeared in the webtoon-based live-action series Weak Hero and the film The King's Warden, building a reputation as a notable rising actor. His casting is generating significant interest ahead of the show's debut.

Neither the original web novel nor its webtoon adaptation are currently available with English translations.
