The digital manga distribution platform Manga Mirai has announced it will permanently discontinue operations on December 15. The service, which was established in March 2025 through a collaborative effort between Media Do, NTT Docomo, Akatsuki Group, and MyAnimeList, provided readers with access to both English editions of previously untranslated titles and original manga content.
To mitigate the loss of digital libraries, the company has established a partnership with NTT Solmare’s MangaPlaza to facilitate the migration of user accounts and purchased content. Subscribers must complete the transfer process by September 30 to retain access to their libraries. In instances where specific titles are unavailable on the new platform, or if users are ineligible due to age restrictions or personal preference, the company has indicated that refund options may be available.
This closure follows a period of significant structural shifts for the companies involved. While the platform was initially launched with deep integration into the MyAnimeList ecosystem, Media Do—which acquired the database site in 2019—divested its shares in MyAnimeList to the Tokyo-based firm Gaudiy shortly after the service's debut. The platform's operations and system maintenance were primarily managed by the Akatsuki Group, while Media Do served as the primary liaison for publisher and translation licensing.
