The fantasy romance series Unnamed Memory: After the End is officially approaching its conclusion. Kadokawa’s Dengeki no Shinbungei label announced that the light novel series will wrap up with the release of its eighth volume on December 17. This follows the seventh volume, which is currently slated for a November 17 launch.
Author Kuji Furumiya and illustrator chibi launched the sequel project in February 2022, building upon the foundation of the original Unnamed Memory series. The original story, which ran for six volumes between 2019 and 2021, gained significant traction after topping the 2020 edition of the prestigious Kono Light Novel ga Sugoi! rankings.
While the light novels are reaching their final chapter, the franchise remains active across other media. A manga adaptation by Naoki Etsuma continues to be serialized in Monthly Dengeki Daioh, with its tenth volume released earlier this year. On the animation front, studio ENGI produced a two-season run, with the first season airing in Spring 2024 and Unnamed Memory Act.2 following in Winter 2025, both of which were simulcast on Crunchyroll.
Why it matters: The conclusion of the After the End sequel marks the final installment of the broader Unnamed Memory narrative, effectively closing the book on a story that has spanned light novels, manga, and a two-season anime adaptation over the last several years.
