To celebrate the 23rd anniversary of its original 2003 debut, Go Forward. (Massugu ni Ikō) is heading to digital platforms. SkySet Entertainment announced that it will host both the original series and its five-episode sequel, Massugu ni Ikō: Melon Pan-hen, starting August 18. Viewers in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, New Zealand, and Australia will have access to both the original Japanese audio with subtitles and a newly produced English dub.

Based on the long-running manga by Kira, the story follows the daily life of Mametaro, a spirited mixed-breed dog. The plot centers on his devotion to his owner, Ikuko, and his persistent, often humorous, attempts to protect her from her boyfriend, Akiyoshi. The series is known for its grounded, charming look at canine perspective, capturing the small adventures of an ordinary pet.

The digital release serves as a precursor to a special English dub screening scheduled for Anime NYC on August 22. Following the initial launch on SkySet’s website, the studio plans to expand the experience in September by adding exclusive cast commentary and interviews. While the series will eventually roll out to additional streaming platforms, SkySet currently holds the exclusive window for this release.

This project highlights a significant milestone for the franchise, which began serialization in 1991. The property has remained active over the decades, most recently seeing the launch of a successor manga, OH MY DOG! Massugu ni Ikō Kiki no Baai, in 2021. For fans of slice-of-life animal stories, this release provides a rare opportunity to revisit a classic piece of early 2000s animation.
