TOHO has announced a live-action film adaptation of Yuu Nagira's acclaimed novel Nanji, Hoshi no Gotoku (You Are Akin to the Stars), slated for release in Japan on October 9.

The film features Ryūsei Yokohama as Kai Aono and Suzu Hirose as Akimi Inoue. Directing the project is Michihito Fujii, with Naoko Adachi penning the screenplay. The story follows the complex, co-dependent relationship between Akimi, an island resident, and Kai, a newcomer, over 15 years, as they navigate strained family lives and personal struggles.

Published in August 2022, the novel garnered the prestigious Honya Taishō prize from bookstore workers the following year. This marks another adaptation for Nagira's work, following the 2022 live-action film based on their novel The Wandering Moon.

A manga version of Nanji, Hoshi no Gotoku, illustrated by Kou Furusato, began serialization in Kodansha's Kiss magazine in June 2024 and concluded with its third volume in January of this year.
