Yukino Sonoyama’s fashion-centric manga Bless is set to make the leap to live-action, with a global streaming release scheduled for next spring on Amazon Prime Video. The project stars Ryūsei Ōnishi, a member of the idol group Naniwa Danshi, in the role of Aia. To prepare for the part, Ōnishi reportedly underwent training at the Shiseido-affiliated makeup academy, SABFA, ensuring an authentic approach to the series' focus on beauty and self-expression.
The production team includes directors Izuru Kumasaka, known for Tramps Like Us, and Maki Tomita. The screenwriting duties are shared by Satoko Okazaki and Ichirō Kusuno, while the Shiseido Beauty Creation Center is providing professional oversight for the show's makeup artistry. The series is presented by Amazon MGM Studios and produced by C & I Entertainment.
This live-action announcement arrives as the source material continues to gain traction, with Kodansha set to publish the ninth volume of the manga on October 8. The series, which explores the intersection of modeling and personal identity, has already surpassed 1.25 million copies in circulation. Readers can currently access the manga digitally via Kodansha’s K MANGA service.
Why it matters: The franchise is expanding across two major formats simultaneously. With an A-1 Pictures-produced television anime already confirmed for 2027, the property is set for a substantial multi-format presence, though it remains to be seen how the two adaptations will align in their release windows.
