The upcoming anime adaptation of Young Ladies Don't Play Fighting Games has revealed additional cast members and a main promotional video. The video offers a preview of the opening and ending theme songs for the series.
Joining the previously announced cast are Yumiri Hanamori as Hana Ichinose, Nobuyuki Hiyama as gekido, Yōhei Azakami as Cafe Au Lait, and Taku Yashiro as Seshiro. Real-life fighting game personality Aru will voice commentator Flamberge. The anime stars Ikumi Hasegawa as Aya Mitsuki and Kana Ichinose as Mio Yorue, among others.
Directed by Shōta Ihata at diomedéa, the series features scripts by Wataru Watari and character designs by Mayuko Matsumoto. The opening theme, "Inochi Mijikashi Tai Suru Otome yo!", is performed by rock band Hanabie., while halca performs the ending theme, "New Game." The anime is scheduled to premiere on July 7.
The series, adapted from Eri Ejima's manga, follows Aya's experiences at Kuromi Girls' Academy, where she discovers her idol Shirayuri's secret passion for hardcore fighting games. Despite the school's refined image, the anime explores the potential for connection through competitive gaming. The manga launched in Kadokawa's Monthly Comic Flapper in January 2020.
