The full trailer and a new key visual for the anime film You, Fireworks, and Our Promise (Kimi to Hanabi to Yakusoku to) have been unveiled, offering a closer look at the coming-of-age romance. The trailer announces additional cast and staff, and previews the theme song 'Kienai Hanabi' by the idol group timelesz.
Joining the previously announced leads Shōri Satō as Makoto Natsume and Nanoka Hara as Aki Hayama, the newly revealed cast includes Rie Takahashi as the mysterious girl Haru and Natsuko Yokosawa as Makoto's mother, Yukari Natsume. The film's staff sees Toshiharu Mizutani as art director, Shiho Kuriki as color key artist, Shinji Saitō as compositing director of photography, Takeshi Takadera as sound director, and Arisa Okehazama composing the music.
Directed by Kei Suzuki, who previously worked on City Hunter The Movie: Angel Dust, the film is produced by Synergy SP and The Answer Studio. Kōhei Mori penned the screenplay, with character designs by Yūji Watanabe. The project was planned and produced by Michihiko Umezawa with Shinei Animation. You, Fireworks, and Our Promise is set against the backdrop of the Nagaoka Festival Grand Fireworks Show, following the story of Makoto, a socially awkward high school boy, and Aki, a popular and talented classmate, whose lives become intertwined through a mysterious drawing of fireworks.
The film, adapted from Kaori Mado's novel series, is slated for theatrical release on July 17. It was previously previewed at the Cannes Film Festival as part of the 'Tokyo International Film Festival's Goes to Cannes' event on May 15. A manga adaptation is also in the works.
