Shinya Misu's manga, You Can't Be In a Rom-Com with Your Childhood Friends!, will conclude its serialization in three chapters, according to an announcement on the series' official X account. The romantic comedy, which began publication on Kodansha's Magazine Pocket website in March 2022, centers on high schooler Eiyuu and his complicated feelings for his two childhood friends, Shio and Akari. The manga's 20th compiled volume was released on May 8.

The series' narrative explores a slow-burn love triangle, with Eiyuu hesitant to reveal his changing feelings for his friends, unaware that they may harbor similar sentiments. The manga's themes of romance, school life, and comedy have resonated with readers, leading to a 12-episode anime adaptation produced by Tezuka Productions that premiered in January 2026. Crunchyroll streamed the anime as it aired, including an English dub.

Kodansha also publishes the manga in English through its K MANGA service, making the story accessible to a wider audience. The conclusion of the manga marks the end of a significant arc for the franchise, following the successful anime adaptation earlier this year.
