The upcoming second season of You and I Are Polar Opposites (Seihantaina Kimi to Boku) has unveiled its opening theme song artist and a new promotional video. Emerging artist 7co will perform the opening track, titled "Nekojarashi," which is written specifically for the anime and serves as 7co's major debut single. The new promo video, released Monday, offers a glimpse into the new season.
The second season is slated to begin airing on July 5 on MBS, TBS, and 26 other networks in Japan. Crunchyroll has confirmed it will stream the season. The series, adapted from Kōcha Agasawa's romantic comedy manga, previously ranked highly in the Manga Taisho Awards, securing third place in 2023 and seventh in 2024, with over 1.8 million copies in circulation.
Alongside the theme song announcement, the production has revealed additional staff for the new season. Tamami Izawa and Sara Sakoe join as chief animation directors, while Eriko Kimura takes on the role of sound director. The directing team includes Takakazu Nagatomo at Lapin Track, with Teruko Utsumi handling scripts and animation production. Mako Miyako is responsible for character design, with Naho Kozono as sub-character designer and chief animation director, alongside Sayuri Sakimoto. Music composition is by tofubeats.
The first season of the anime premiered in January 2024. The original manga by Agasawa concluded in November 2024, with its eighth and final compiled volume released in March 2025.
