Author Yūgo Kobayashi has announced a further delay for his upcoming original manga series, citing unforeseen circumstances. Originally slated for a spring launch and subsequently pushed to this summer, the project is now delayed by another six months. Kobayashi, known for his work on the hit soccer drama Aoashi, has yet to provide specific details on the premise of the new title.

In the meantime, the Aoashi Brotherfoot spinoff is undergoing a significant scheduling shift. The series, which focuses on the character Shun Aoi, will move from its previous monthly cadence to a weekly serialization format in Shogakukan’s Weekly Big Comic Spirits. Kobayashi confirmed that he has already completed enough material for four volumes and intends to wrap up the spinoff entirely once it reaches six compiled book volumes.

This update arrives as the franchise prepares for the return of its television adaptation. Aoashi Season 2 is scheduled to premiere on October 4 via NHK Educational, with Crunchyroll handling the international streaming release. The original Aoashi manga concluded its 40-volume run in August 2025, having previously secured the Best General Manga award at the 65th Shogakukan Manga Awards in 2020. English readers can currently follow the series through Titan Manga’s ongoing omnibus releases.
