The manga Yang Can't Live Alone is set for a transition to a new publisher following creator sooncha's decision to withdraw copyright from Square Enix. The series, which follows the developing relationship between a diligent college student named Yuu and a friendly exchange student named Yang, concluded its run on the Manga UP! service on August 13.
Square Enix will cease digital distribution of the title on August 31 at 11:59 p.m. JST. While physical copies currently in retail channels will remain available until stock is depleted, the company will no longer produce new physical editions. According to the creator, existing translated versions of the manga will remain available until their respective publishing agreements expire.
Looking ahead, sooncha plans to relaunch the series in Japan through a new company, with a revised edition planned for both physical and digital formats. The creator has indicated that further details regarding the new publishing arrangement will be shared at a later date.
Why it matters: The shift follows a public breakdown in the relationship between the creator and the editorial department at Manga UP!. While the series had reached its third compiled volume as of August 6, the future of the English-language release remains an open question as the publisher's official page for the title currently displays an error.
