Yaiba: Samurai Legend (Shin Samurai-den YAIBA) is officially returning for its second season on January 9, 2027. The announcement, accompanied by a new key visual, confirms that the series will continue its Saturday evening broadcast slot on YTV and NTV, maintaining its position just ahead of the long-running Detective Conan series.
Director Takahiro Hasui is back at the helm at Wit Studio, leading a returning core production team that includes series scriptwriter Tōko Machida and character designer Yoshimichi Kameda. The upcoming season is set to adapt the "Kaguya Arc," introducing Ami Koshimizu as the voice of Kaguya and Kōki Uchiyama as Tsukikage. The production also welcomes Yūdai Oda as the new director of photography.
This adaptation of Gōshō Aoyama’s classic 1988 manga series follows the first season, which premiered in April 2025. While the series is currently available to international viewers via Netflix in several regions and Hulu in the United States, the specific streaming rollout for the second season remains to be confirmed.
With the staff remaining largely intact from the first season, the production appears focused on maintaining the visual identity established in 2025. It remains to be seen if the second season will mirror the two-cour structure of its predecessor or adjust its length to accommodate the pacing of the Kaguya storyline.
