A newly released overview trailer for the Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Switch 2 Edition has confirmed a major crossover for fans of Monolith Soft's wider catalog. The footage reveals that Momo, the iconic character from the Xenosaga series, will be joining the game as a Rare Blade, bringing a classic RPG aesthetic to the updated release.
The Switch 2 iteration of the title is set for a digital debut on July 30, with a physical release following on October 1. Players who already own the original Switch version will also have access to an upgrade pack. The release schedule continues later this year, as the Switch 2 Edition of Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is slated for both physical and digital formats on December 3.
This announcement follows the recent rollout of the Switch 2 Edition for Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition, which introduced significant technical and gameplay enhancements, including 4K resolution, 60fps performance, and full voiceovers for Heart-to-heart scenes. Nintendo also confirmed that the series will expand further with the launch of a brand-new entry, Xenoblade Genesis, currently in development for a 2027 release on the Switch 2 platform.
