The anime film adaptation of Type-Moon's visual novel Mahōtsukai no Yoru (Witch on the Holy Night) is set to premiere on November 20. The announcement came during a special "Mahōtsukai no Yoru Release Date Announcement Event."

Animation duties are handled by ufotable, known for its work on the Demon Slayer and Fate series. The film will feature the original cast from the visual novel, including Haruka Tomatsu as Aoko Aozaki, Kana Hanazawa as Alice Kuonji, and Yūsuke Kobayashi as Soujyuro Sizuki.

The story is set in the late 1980s and centers on Aoko Aozaki, who reluctantly begins her apprenticeship in magic under the young witch Alice Kuonji. Aoko must balance her magical studies with her role as student council president, all while navigating her new acquaintance Sōjūrō Shizuki and the schemes of her older sister, Tōko.

Witch on the Holy Night is a foundational work in the Type-Moon universe, predating their famous Fate and Tsukihime franchises. The visual novel was initially released in 2012, with Western console versions for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch arriving in December 2022 and selling over 150,000 copies worldwide. The game also saw a Steam release in December 2023.
