The television anime adaptation of Witch Hat Atelier has announced two new voice cast members. Katsuyuki Konishi, known for roles in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba and My Hero Academia, will voice the character Dagda. Toshiki Kumagai, who has voiced characters in Haikyu!! and The Apothecary Diaries, has been cast as Custas.
These new characters are set to appear in the series' sixth episode, scheduled to air next Monday. The anime, which began airing on April 6, is directed by Ayumu Watanabe (Ace Attorney, Doraemon films) with animation by BUG FILMS. The series boasts a strong production team, including character designer Kairi Unabara and music composer Yuka Kitamura, known for her work on Elden Ring.
Witch Hat Atelier follows Coco, a village girl who dreams of becoming a wizard but lacks the innate magical ability. Her life changes when she encounters Qifrey, a traveling wizard, revealing a hidden world of magic. The series is based on Kamome Shirahama's acclaimed manga, which has garnered significant praise, including Harvey Awards and nominations at the Angoulême International Comics Festival and Manga Taisho awards.
The anime is currently airing on Tokyo MX and other channels, with Crunchyroll providing streaming access and an English dub. The manga has achieved over 7 million copies in circulation worldwide and holds an impressive 8.73 rating on MyAnimeList from over 18,000 voters, underscoring the high expectations for this fantasy series.
