The upcoming television anime adaptation of Witch and Mercenary (Majo to Yōhei) has officially locked in an April 2027 premiere window. Bandai Namco Filmworks confirmed the release date alongside a new promotional video that highlights the series' high-fantasy world and introduces several key additions to the production team and voice cast.

Joining the previously announced leads Saori Hayami (Siasha) and Taito Ban (Zig Crane) are Yuri Noguchi as the swordmaster Isana Gihon, Hiromu Mineta as party leader Alan Clows, and Haruka Shiraishi as the mysterious adventurer Elicia Armel. The production team at studio 8-Bit has also expanded, bringing on Shingo Irie as assistant series script supervisor and a robust team of chief animation directors, including Keita Matsumoto, Hideki Sakai, and Sorato Shimizu.

Directed by Shinpei Ezaki, the series adapts the light novel written by Kaeru Chōhōkiteki, which concluded its original web serialization in 2022. While the anime is still months away, the franchise continues to maintain a presence through its ongoing print volumes and the manga adaptation currently serialized on Kodansha’s Magazine Pocket app. With the core staff and cast now largely established, the focus shifts to how the studio will handle the series' signature blend of high-stakes combat and character-driven travel.

Given the April 2027 debut, which staff member's contribution to the visual design are you most interested in seeing in motion?
