Wit Studio has unveiled LONA (Laboratory of Optics and Neural Analysis), a new original television anime slated for a Spring 2027 premiere. The announcement came with the release of two teaser videos and three teaser visuals, offering a glimpse into the sci-fi mystery. The anime is directed by Takashi Katagiri, known for his work on the SPY×FAMILY Code: White film, with Wit Studio handling the animation and planning.

The story is set in a broken future where humanity faces an unprecedented crisis: attacks from individuals presumed dead. To combat this, the specialized organization LONA is called upon. Researcher Ao and her apprentice Sango will delve into the minds of the deceased, analyzing memories and neural circuits to uncover the truth behind the resurrections.

Minako Kotobuki will voice the researcher Ao, with Anna Nagase portraying her apprentice Sango. Fūka Izumi is also part of the cast as Mugen. Akiko Nogi, who penned the screenplay for the INU-OH anime film, is credited with the original story and screenplay for LONA. Character designs are provided by Posuka Demizu, the manga creator behind The Promised Neverland, with Yūdai Iino adapting them for animation.

Additional staff includes Ayumi Yamada and Keisuke Ōkura for sub-character design, syo5 for image design, and Satoshi Takabatake and Kazushi Fujii for art setting and mechanical design. The animation production team also features Yumiko Kuga as Art Director, Shigenori Hirozumi as CG Director, and Hiroko Sébu composing the music. The project was first teased at the Chayamachi Oshi Festival 2026 on June 20.
