LONA, an original science-fiction television anime produced by Wit Studio, has officially announced its premiere for April 2027. The project revealed its main cast, key production staff, and released teaser visuals and a promotional video via its newly launched official website.
The anime's story is set in a near future where humanity faces an unprecedented crisis: attacks from deceased individuals. To combat this, a specialized organization known as the Laboratory of Optics and Neural Analysis, or LONA, is called upon. The series will follow researcher Ao and her apprentice Sango as they delve into the mysteries by analyzing the neural circuits of the deceased, exploring what people think and leave behind in their final moments.
Voicing the central characters are Fuuka Izumi as Mugen, Anna Nagase as Sango, and Minako Kotobuki as Ao. The production staff includes Takashi Katagiri directing, with original character designs by Posuka Demizu, known for her work on The Promised Neverland. Yuuta Iino is handling character design, with Ayumi Yamada and Keisuke Ookura on sub character design. Syo5 is credited for image design.
Further staff announcements include Satoshi Takabatake and Kazushi Fujii for art setting and mechanical design, Yumiko Kuga as art director, and Shigenori Hirozumi as 3DCG director. Kentarou Minegishi and Miori Miyagi are directors of photography, with Kiyoshi Hirose on editing and Hanami Tanaka for color design. The sound director is Shouji Hata, and music will be composed by Hiroko Sebu. Kazuki Yamanaka is credited for planning and animation production.
