Hayao Miyazaki's 1995 coming-of-age drama "Whisper of the Heart" is now available to stream on Netflix, complete with English dub and subtitles. The film, adapted from Aoi Hiragi's manga, was the highest-grossing Japanese film of its release year and the first to utilize Dolby Digital sound.

Produced by Studio Ghibli and directed by Yoshifumi Kondō, "Whisper of the Heart" centers on Shizuku Tsukishima, a junior high student who discovers a pattern of borrowing library books under the same name, leading her to the enigmatic Amasawa. This chance encounter sparks her own dreams of becoming a writer and sets her on a journey of self-discovery, accompanied by a mysterious cat and a charming violin-making apprentice.

With a strong MAL score of 8.23, the film is celebrated for its heartfelt portrayal of young love and artistic ambition. "Whisper of the Heart" also shares a connection with the Studio Ghibli film "The Cat Returns," which serves as a spin-off.
