A major shift in digital comics is arriving this November as WEBTOON Entertainment prepares to launch a dedicated Marvel Comics app. Developed in partnership with Marvel, the platform will offer access to a vast library spanning Marvel, Star Wars, and 20th Century Studios titles. The app is designed to accommodate diverse reading preferences, supporting both traditional page-based layouts and the vertical-scroll format popularized by WEBTOON.

This launch coincides with the retirement of the long-standing Marvel Unlimited service. According to the announcement, Marvel Unlimited will cease adding new content on December 7, with the service fully shutting down on December 28. To ease the transition, current subscribers will be able to export their reading history and library data to the new platform, and active members will receive automated, prorated refunds for the remainder of their subscriptions.

The new app introduces a two-tier subscription model. The Base plan, priced at $9.99 per month, offers access to new issues three months after their print release, while the $12.49 Ultimate plan reduces that window to one month. Early adopters can currently pre-register for a discounted annual rate on the Ultimate plan. Attendees at New York Comic Con have the opportunity to test a beta version of the interface at the Marvel booth through October 11.

This development follows a strategic partnership established in 2025 between Disney and WEBTOON to adapt and distribute a significant catalog of intellectual property into mobile-friendly formats. With the transition from a legacy service to a new, feature-rich platform, it remains to be seen how the integration of vertical-scroll technology will influence the presentation of Marvel's classic back catalog.
