The popular fantasy romance webtoon The Remarried Empress is officially making the jump to television. Announced during the Crunchyroll Showcase at New York Comic-con 2026, the adaptation is slated for a 2027 premiere. Studio TROYCA will lead the production, with Tetsuya Yanagisawa serving as director and Akiko Inoue handling series composition and scripts.
The production team also confirmed the primary voice cast for the series' central figures. Youko Hikasa will star as the dignified Empress Navier Ellie Trovi, while Ryouhei Kimura takes on the role of Heinrey. Rounding out the main cast are Tomoaki Maeno as Emperor Sovieshu and Reina Ueda as Rashta. A new promotional video and character visual were released alongside the announcement to showcase the series' aesthetic.
This adaptation follows the massive success of the original web novel by Alphatart and the subsequent webtoon illustrated by Sumpul, which concluded its 251-chapter run earlier this year. The franchise has maintained a significant footprint, with Yen Press currently publishing the English print edition under its Ize Press imprint. Beyond the upcoming anime, the story is also expanding into live-action, with a separate series produced by Studio N set to debut on Disney+ this November.
With the anime still over a year away, the industry is watching to see how TROYCA adapts the intricate political maneuvering and romance that defined the source material. Given the webtoon's massive global reach of nearly 3 billion views, the project carries significant weight for the studio's upcoming slate. Which of the lead voice performances are you most looking forward to seeing in the full series?
