The action-fantasy webtoon SSS-Class Revival Hunter is officially making the leap to television, with a premiere window set for January 2027. Production studio Studio Fu launched an official website today, offering a first look at the project through a teaser visual and promotional video that introduces the series' high-stakes premise.
The production has tapped a veteran creative team to lead the adaptation. Hiroaki Sakurai, known for his work on Machikado Mazoku, will direct the series, with scripts handled by Sayuri Ooba. Character design duties fall to Takahiro Yoshimatsu, whose extensive portfolio includes the 2011 adaptation of Hunter x Hunter. The main cast features Takeo Ootsuka as the protagonist Gong-ja Kim, joined by Satoshi Hino as the formidable Bae Hu-ryeong.
Originally a web novel by Sinnoa, the story follows Kim Gong-ja, an F-Class hunter who gains a rare, lethal ability that allows him to copy the skills of those who kill him. This power, combined with a time-reversal mechanic, sets him on a collision course with the world's most powerful hunters. While the webtoon has seen steady growth since its 2020 debut on Naver and subsequent English localization by Tapas Media and Yen Press, this anime marks the franchise's first major foray into animation.
With the January 2027 window confirmed, the production timeline gives the team over a year to flesh out the Tower's complex world. Given the pedigree of the staff, which of the series' intense combat sequences are you most looking forward to seeing animated?
