WEBTOON Entertainment has announced a significant global leadership overhaul, introducing a new Chief Business Officer position as part of its strategy to unify regional operations and boost international growth. This restructuring follows the recent appointment of Yongsoo Kim as President and is designed to enhance operational efficiency and market coordination.
Leah Goeun Yeon has been named WEBTOON's first Chief Business Officer. In this capacity, she will manage the webcomic platform's business across Korea and other global markets, excluding Japan. Her responsibilities will encompass growth, marketing, content acquisition, and creator relations. Yeon brings extensive experience from previous roles at Woowa Brothers, McKinsey, Google, and Samsung Electronics.
Further key appointments include Yuki Chae, who is now Chief Product Officer, tasked with global product strategy. Teo Taeyeong Jang will lead the new AI division, focusing on content protection, discovery, and translation technologies. Sean Shinhyung Kim has been appointed Head of IP Business, aiming to expand WEBTOON's intellectual property into film, television, and gaming.
Additionally, David J Lee will assume the presidency of Wattpad while continuing his role as WEBTOON's global Chief Financial Officer. All these newly appointed executives will report directly to President Yongsoo Kim.
