WEBTOON Entertainment has reshuffled the leadership at its Korean subsidiary, Naver Webtoon, naming Yongsoo Kim and Gyu-nam Kim as co-CEOs. The transition, which took effect on October 1, follows a broader organizational pivot that began earlier this spring. By splitting the executive responsibilities, the company intends to better balance its local Korean operations with its expanding international footprint.
Yongsoo Kim, who currently serves as President of WEBTOON Entertainment, will oversee the subsidiary's operations while maintaining his parent company role. He brings experience from his previous tenure as CSO and his leadership during the company's recent IPO. Meanwhile, Gyu-nam Kim, who has served as Chief Administrative Officer, will continue his work with content policy and creator relations while stepping into the co-CEO role to manage domestic partnerships and anti-piracy initiatives.
Founder Junkoo Kim is stepping down from his CEO duties at Naver Webtoon to concentrate on his position as chairman and CEO of WEBTOON Entertainment. This shift allows him to prioritize long-term growth and global strategy. The new structure highlights a clear division of labor between regional management and global oversight, though it remains to be seen how this dual-leadership model will influence the pace of future domestic content development.
