The upcoming live-action series Mousetrap will arrive on Netflix on August 28. Based on the webtoon Field Mouse, the thriller centers on a reclusive novelist named Moon-jae, whose life spirals into chaos when he is targeted by an enigmatic figure. To navigate the danger, he forms an uneasy, forced partnership with No-ja, a ruthless loan shark from his past.
A newly released teaser trailer highlights the series' tense atmosphere, offering a first look at the gritty dynamic between the two leads. The plot weaves a complex mystery involving detective Sun-yong, who becomes entangled in the duo's desperate pursuit of the truth.
Director Hong-sun Kim helms the project, which features Jun-yeol Ryu as the protagonist Moon-jae, Kyung-gu Sul in the role of the menacing No-ja, and Kyoo-hyung Lee as detective Sun-yong. The original source material, serialized by artist Ludovico between 2017 and 2020, finds its roots in the traditional Korean folktale "The Rat That Ate Fingernails." This classic story, which tells of a rodent transforming into a human after consuming discarded fingernails, serves as the thematic foundation for the show's psychological horror elements.
