Netflix has confirmed that its upcoming live-action series Take Charge of My Heart will debut on the platform on October 9. Alongside the announcement, the streaming service released a teaser trailer and poster, offering a first look at the series' central dynamic.
The show is an adaptation of the web novel originally serialized on Naver Series by author Haebeon. The story follows Ho-rang Baek, a third-generation chaebol executive living with an artificial heart, and Bo-bae Na, a drama writer who developed the ability to generate electricity after a childhood lightning strike. Their paths cross when they discover a symbiotic connection: Bo-bae’s power can recharge Ho-rang’s failing battery, leading the pair to enter a three-month contract centered on physical proximity.
While the source material has yet to receive an official English-language release, this adaptation brings the high-concept romance to the screen. The series leans into the classic "contract relationship" trope, though the sci-fi twist regarding the artificial heart adds a distinct layer to the narrative. With the premiere date now locked, it remains to be seen how closely the adaptation will follow the pacing of the original web novel.
