Kodansha has unveiled plans to adapt Motohiro Den's seinen mystery series Funsou deshitara Hatta made into a television anime. The announcement arrived alongside a new key visual, highlighting the series' expansion beyond its print origins. Since its debut in 2019, the title has built a solid following, currently boasting 1.2 million copies in circulation across its collected volumes.
The narrative follows Yuri Hatta, a consultant specializing in geopolitical risk who navigates dangerous international hotspots. Hatta’s work takes her from remote areas defined by local superstition to high-stakes urban environments, where she manages everything from criminal syndicates to ethnic disputes. Her methodology is notably eclectic, combining deep academic knowledge of global politics with the occasional application of pro-wrestling techniques, all while documenting the unique regional foods she discovers on her travels.
While the manga began its run in Morning magazine, it shifted to the D Morning digital platform in 2021. As the franchise prepares to release its 20th volume this September, details regarding the animation studio, voice cast, and premiere date remain under wraps.
