We Are Aliens (Ware Ware wa Uchūjin) has unveiled a fresh look at its upcoming release, dropping a full trailer and key visual that highlight both new cast members and the film's musical identity. The trailer offers a preview of the theme song "Sasakure" (Split), performed by the artist adieu, setting the tone for this emotional narrative.
The production has tapped Sakurazaka46 member Ten Yamasaki to voice Konatsu, a classmate of the protagonist, while comedian Kemuri Matsui joins the ensemble as Tsubasa’s friend, Batahara. They join leads Ryōta Bandō and Amane Okayama, who portray the central duo of Tsubasa and Gyōtarō as young adults, alongside child actors Yūto Maki and Tasuku Nakagome.
Directed by Kōhei Kadowaki—known for his work on the second season of BEASTARS—the film follows the fractured friendship of two boys haunted by past misunderstandings. The project represents a unique collaboration between the Japanese label NOTHING NEW and the French studio Miyu Productions. Following a successful crowdfunding campaign that exceeded its 8 million yen goal, the film has already made waves on the international festival circuit, including screenings at Cannes and Annecy.
Japanese audiences can catch the film in theaters starting September 25. International distribution is currently being managed by CHARADES, with confirmed releases slated for Taiwan, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Thailand.
