The teaser trailer and visual for the upcoming anime film We Are Aliens (Ware Ware wa Uchūjin) have been unveiled by label NOTHING NEW. The film, a collaboration with animator Kōhei Kadowaki, will also screen at the 79th Cannes Film Festival as part of the Directors' Fortnight from May 12 to May 23.

The cast includes Ryōta Bandō and Amane Okayama as the adult versions of protagonists Tsubasa and Akitarō, respectively. Child actors Yuto Maki and Tasuku Nakagome will voice the characters in their youth. Yaffle, known for his work with artists like Fujii Kaze and Kenshi Yonezu, is handling the film's musical score.

We Are Aliens follows Tsubasa and Akitarō, former childhood friends whose bond frayed due to jealousy and misunderstanding. The story sees them confronting their past as adult memories resurface. Kōhei Kadowaki, who previously worked on the ending sequence for BEASTARS season two and directed music videos for YOASOBI, is credited as planner, scriptwriter, director, storyboard artist, and editor.

Production cooperation is provided by French studio Miyu Productions, known for Ghost Cat Anzu. The film is slated for release this year. A crowdfunding campaign for the film successfully surpassed its goal, raising over 9.6 million yen (approximately $60,467 USD) for production and distribution costs.
